Chapter 0 · 12 min · Required

This is a course. Treat it like one.

You can leave this chapter when you can say who you write for, how many minutes a day you will spend, which week you start, and which format you will protect.

Most “how to grow on X” posts are a list of tactics with no pass/fail. This course is the opposite. Each chapter has a leave-when condition, a drill you do the same day, and a source you can open. If you only read, you did not take the course.

What this is built from

Public runs and public ranker code. Not a leak of Rob Hallam’s paid Attention Playbook (pre-sale as of 30 Sep 2026, dated to ship 31 Oct). Hallam’s public framing is useful: each post is a ranking test, the profile is a landing page, story is a spine, and you make friends before you make content. We keep that. We throw out anything that only works if you already have an audience, a SaaS to sell, or a two-day throwaway account.

Who it is for

Someone starting from scratch or stuck under ~300, writing in a founder / builder / specialist niche. If you already have 5k and a newsletter, this will feel slow on purpose. The failure mode this course exists to prevent is: post three times a week into silence, change topics every Monday, and decide “X is dead.”

How to study

  1. Read one chapter. Do the drill the same day. Do not stockpile chapters.
  2. Keep an X log: date, what you shipped (reply or original), what earned a profile visit or a follow. Five lines is enough.
  3. Sunday: kill one thing, keep one thing, refresh ten names on the target list.
  4. If a chapter contradicts your last 14 days of data, trust the 14 days. Weights move. Your graph does not lie as often.

3 originals a week, almost no replies6+ months, often neverThe silent-essay trap
Read speed-run screenshots carefully. Posts like “0 to 200 in two days” or “200 to 700 in four” almost always hide an input you do not have: an existing audience feeding a throwaway, six-hour days, or mass connect-thread volume. Plan for 8 to 12 weeks. Faster is a bonus, not the baseline.

15–25 good replies a day plus 4–6 originals a week is the working ratio under 1,000. Volume without the standalone test is just noise with extra steps.

What “done” means at the end

Not a screenshot of 1,000. 1,000 plus about 15 people who would notice if you vanished, a weekly format that can clear four-figure views, and a profile that converts a stranger in five seconds. Followers from a connect-thread do not count.

Drill · 10 minutes

Write four lines in a note you will still have in week 8: who it is for; daily minutes you can keep on a bad Tuesday; start date and target week; the first format you will protect.
